It seems that the medals that would be used for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver would be constructed partly from recycled circuit boards. According to several sources, they mentioned that the newly designed medals will be heftier when compared to previous medals, whereby each of these medals will weigh between 500 and 576 grams apiece – that’s close to a kilogram!

On the other hand, not sure that this would solve the e-waste problems, but I think that the Winter Olympics participants will not be happy with the ‘trash’ that they will be getting from these medals.
